A Drink On The Water

Winter is slowly coming to a close. Layer by layer, everyone is quietly stripping down in anticipation for the nice weather. And there's no better place to enjoy a sunny day than on a terrace, by the water, with a nice cold drink in your hand. Unfortunately, there aren't as many waterside drinking spots in Amsterdam as you might hope - that's why it's important to get there early. Here is a list of some of the best aquiproximate drinking holes.

Hanneke's Boom

This one is hard to beat. This 300 year old hot spot has plenty of sitting room - whether it's on one of the dozens of colorful picnic tables, or right on the water, or even inside by the fire when it's chilly, it's rarely too busy to find somewhere to rest your legs. The view is spectacular - the stunning science museum Nemo and beside it, the Maritime Museum. There's no better place to while away a summer afternoon.

Cafe de Ceuvel

Not enough people are exploring the North of Amsterdam. One good reason to do so is this beautiful cafe, tucked away in a hidden corner. The beer is cold, the music is great and the squatty-hippy vibe will make you forget your 9-to-5 worries.
